
For the 33rd Year in a row, the streets of Long Beach were temporarly closed off for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long beach. Known to be the longest running street race held in North America, this year was known to have the largest event held in the city of Long Beach. Numbers reaching 10,000+ of people showing up on the weekend of the event. It started off as an open-wheel formula 500 race downtown. The year following that formula 500 race it turned into a Formula one race event. Other events on the same week of the Grand Prix were the Trans-Am and Toyota Atlantic races and also a Grand Prix having cars from before the 1990's and also Toyota Celebrity races. The Toyota Celica was widely used in the celebrity races from the 70's until 2005 which is now replaced with Scion TC.
